News and Interest
We are pleased to welcome our new full-time Financial Administrator, Tameka Coleman, who earned a BBA in Accounting from Texas A&M in 1998. Tameka has over eleven years of Accounting and Finance experience. Her roles have included Accountant, Financial Analyst and Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis. She is a member of Concord Baptist Church and sings with the praise & worship team. She is married to Rev. Frederick Coleman, a masters degree student at GSOT. We are also very thankful for Cindy Chastain and Peggy Andrade who have faithfully served the seminary as part-time accountants to date.
- Our fees are changing for the spring 2010 semester, but tuition remains the same low price. All students (credit and enrichment, on-campus and online) will be charged a $25 administration fee for each course, which will cover registration, copies, technology, etc. This $25 fee will replace the previous $30 credit semester registration fee and the $10 per course copy fee. The application fee for all new students remains $30.
- Beginning January 11, 2010, online courses will proceed only if five or more students are registered for the course, as TRACS (accreditation agency) insists on this policy. We will still maintain open enrollment for online courses which need not start when our normal on-campus semesters start. We will work on networking online students so that online courses meet the minimum five-student threshold and can proceed as soon as possible.
- We are offering many new eight-week "Hybrid" courses this semester. Each hybrid course is three credit hours. Rather than fifteen weeks of lectures, hybrid courses have eight weeks of lectures and the remainder of the participatory time is conducted online during the same eight weeks (for most hybrid courses). All of the course work for a hybrid course must be completed within the inclusive meeting dates of the course (usually eight weeks). The hybrid course format enables students who usually only take one course at a time to take two successive three-credit courses in one semester and to move more deliberately towards finishing their degree program.
We have an immediate opening for a full-time bookkeeper/office assistant. Must be expert and experienced with QuickBooks, online banking, Excel, and computing generally. Experience with donor ministry, higher education, and/or Apple Macintosh is a significant plus. Must be willing to assist with answering phones and other reception duties, to assist with all other office functions of the seminary, and to work selflessly as a member of a cohesive team. Compensation is negotiable consistent with qualifications. Bachelors degree required, preferably with major in accounting, business, economics or the like. Must be willing to commute to multiple campus locations. Great opportunity for advancement.
Please send us an essay about your faith and theology, in one page or less, including your candid views on our doctrinal statement available at our website. Also, please let us know your recent compensation history, your expectations for compensation, and your earliest date of availability. Finally, please send us the names, addresses, emails, and phone numbers for three spiritual references as follows: pastor, mentor, and any other spiritual brother or sister who knows you well and is not a biological relative. All of this information must be provided in one email along with a resume and cover letter. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Grace School of Theology today announced that the accreditation process is progressing in a more expeditious manner than previously anticipated, and the seminary is temporarily suspending all doctorate programs until accreditation of its masters degree programs is obtained. This action is being taken after the seminary's Academic Dean, Dr. J.B. Hixson, and Director of Institutional Planning & Research, George Crossland, attended the TRACS (www.tracs.org) annual accreditation conference last week and met with TRACS leadership to advance the seminary's accreditation application process. Consequently, the seminary decided to approach institutional accreditation with masters level degree programs first and subsequently seek the addition of doctorate level degree programs. "We are excited to be working with accrediting bodies towards achievement of accreditation and in a much shorter timeframe that previously believed possible," said Dr. Dave Anderson, President and Founder of Grace School of Theology. "We will continue to provide status updates to students and prospective students as we achieve accreditation milestones." For more information about this decision please contact Grace School of Theology toll free at 877-GSOT-ORG or by email at info@gsot.org.
